Our Inspiration
|
Michelle Nash, herself a cancer survivor, has had a heart for using equine therapy and helping those in need since she was a child. At the age of twelve, she envisioned a place of hope….a place where children and adults could be paired with horses to aid in their spiritual, physical and mental healing. Since then, Michelle’s vision had developed into a reality. Starting with a handful of abused and neglected children and now encompassing those with medical illness and handicaps, Michelle’s dream came alive, Haven of Hope Ranch in 2006. Haven of Hope created a place where hope could truly be found. Through learning to trust a large animal and building confidence, children and individuals find healing, hope, empowerment and God’s love. In addition to providing an outreach to the community, Haven of Hope was also unique in that a portion of our horses had also come from neglectful and/or abusive environments. A hello from Michelle. Friends, about a year ago I became ill and found out that I have cardiomyopathy, which resulted in my congestive heart failure. We now think that my heart damage was a result of chemotherapy in 1977, when I had bone cancer and lost my right leg. If this is true, then God has been holding my heart to keep it well for 34 years. We are praying and believing for a miracle. We are so thankful for this last year of what the Lord is teaching our entire family. Nikki Heitschmidt is now the Executive Director. Her and her husband are taking HHR to new and exciting places, focusing on the men and women who serve our country and their families. My family is really excited to support and volunteer when the time will allow. Nikki and Ryan have all the talent and abilities to take HHR to where God wants it to go. I am truly thankful and honored that they wanted to take this ministry I hold so dear. God is amazing how He can change your heart if you let Him. A year ago I would have never dreamed of HHR going in a different direction, let alone be excited about it. He is so good. |
